Handwriting (2 times per week for no more than 10-15 minutes)
This year we will focus more on cursive letter formation. I reviewed PreScripts Words and Drawing from Classical Conversations several months ago. I was throughly impressed with the book. I decided to slow things down for Alyssa and start with the first book. We will use the PreScripts Letters and Coloring book this year at a slower pace. If we have time this year, then we will continue using the second book in the series.
We have a variety of copywork resources that we will choose from this year.
- BibleWriter Volume 1 by Kirsten Joy Awake
- Write Through the Bible Copywork from Intoxicated on Life
- Aesop Fable Passages
- First Language Lessons (Year 1) by Jessie Wise - Peace Hill Press
Apps
Wordly Wise Vocabulary Flashcards by Educators Publishing Service (FREE)
Supplemental Resources
- Morning Message
- Ruth Heller's World of Language Series
- Brian P. Cleary Series
- Grammar Songs by Audio Memory
- Donna Young's Cursive Animations
- IEW (PAL) FINISH
We used to do this as a family using the mini mailboxes found in Target's dollar area. We will try the journal approach this year. IEW (PAL) also incorporates a writing journal into the daily lessons.
Wish List
Happy Scribe Combo 3 - Classical History Education from Westvon Publishing
What curriculum are you using for writing and grammar?
God bless,
Tracey
