E is for Explorers: Christopher Columbus

As we all know Columbus Day is right around the corner - it will be celebrated on October 8th this year. This is a great time to research all explorers especially Christopher Columbus. How's your Columbus Day planning going? Do you need a little inspiration? I found many resources on the internet that may help you plan your holiday studies. In most cases, the resources are freely shared. The books and curriculum will need to be borrowed or purchased. Please remember that resources listed for kindergarten can also be easily adapted for older children. There may be some overlapping with activities - this just means that particular resource or idea was extremely helpful to many and may be of special interest to you! Check them out!

  1. We plan to go to Corpus Christi the 1st of Nov. because the C.C. Museum on Natural History is free that day and only $3 for the Santa Maria ship tour. It'll be past Columbus Day, but that just means we get to extend our study on Columbus and the Ocean. Your ideas here, especially for the crafts, will be helpful in our month long study. I wish I'd have found your post sooner, as I already spent a bunch of time finding most of the sites you listed. Bummer. Next time, I'll look here FIRST! Lesson Learned!
