Owl from Bali Art Project

This week's ArtAchieve art project is the Owl from Bali which was inspired by a wood carving from Bali. This project is from the Level I bundle. Oil pastels, a charcoal white pencil, and Artagain paper were utilized in this drawing and painting. The supply list called for black or dark blue construction paper, but we used a higher quality paper that we had on hand.

This lesson focused on contrasting warm and cool colors. It also focused on the use of drawing lines to create patterned designs. She was a little nervous when the instructor told her to color her entire owl and moon white, but she realized that it helped the objects stand out from the background. She used warm oil pastel colors to color her owl and cooler colors for the background.

Furthermore, she learned about the island of Bali (part of Indonesia) which lies south of the equator between Asia and Australia before beginning her art project using the cross-curricular links found on the website.
