"Colors of Faith" Christmas Tree Craft

We read so many Christmas books this month. You can see several titles listed in my Book Tree Countdown post. We read a handful of books that focused on Christmas trees. I remembered that last year I purchased "Colors of Faith" Christmas Tree Craft Kits from Oriental Trading for a Christmas gathering with my daughter's friends. We never did get to complete the craft last year, because I planned too many activities for that day. If you purchase a set of these trees, then I recommend getting together with friends or else you will have leftover tree kits.

The first book on the list below mentions having faith. We discussed always having faith in God. We talked about how having faith in God ... all things are possible. Several books spark different conversations about good christian character traits and other books are just about Christmas trees.

We used a hole punch to attach the red hanging string to the tree. It worked very well but is NOT required. This was an extremely easy craft to complete. All of the materials have adhesive on the back. The child peels off the paper and can stick the item on the tree. The tiny gems for the star topper may serve as a challenge to younger children, but it is great way to practice fine motor skills as long as it doesn't frustrate the child. Here are a few shots of her working on the craft project.

Alyssa said, "This craft was really fun." She liked adding the gems and foam circle stickers to the tree. She also said that the craft is important to her because it is about Jesus and God.

There are so many ways that you can replicate this Christmas tree craft to save money. You can use buttons, felt, pom pom, gems, Playdough balls, paint daubers, or some other material to represent the colors of faith. Your tree can be created with paper, felt, fabric, styrofoam, food, wire, or whatever you have on hand. Use your imagination and make sure you check out the links above for inspiration. Then, choose and gather the appropriate materials. I believe this craft is worth trying with your children! You can add your own "colors of faith" tag that states what each color represents. Hopefully, I have shown you several ways you could adapt the craft activity for your little ones.
